"Always Do What Pleases God" (Week 5: Lent: Tuesday)

Behaviour of the people
1. They lost patience
2. They spoke against God and Moses
3. Grumbled saying that the food was unsatisfying food

Consequence of their evil behaviour
1 God sent fiery serpent whose bite brought death to the people
2. Gospel reading: If you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sin
3. About you, I have much to say, much to condemn

Repentance on the part of the people
1. The people said: “We have sinned by speaking against God and against Moses.”

Consequence of their repentance
Moses intercedes with God to save the people

Lessons from Jesus/ Good examples from Jesus
1. What I have learnt from him, I declare to the world
2. What the father has taught me is what I preach
3. He who sent me is with me, he has not left me to myself
4. For I always do what pleases him
5. Many came to believe him

Let us see our behaviour in the light of the liturgy of the word
1. We need to learn before we teach, before we declare something to the world. Learning never ends. We need to learn from God. Sit with him in moments of personal prayer and meditation. He is a great teacher. He will teach us. We will declare his teaching to the world and not our teaching.

2. As Jesus felt that God the Father was with him, we also need to make sure that God is with us. God never abundance us. We abandon God and go away from him through our sins. Jesus says: “without me you can do nothing”, “I am the vine you are the branches” “Your fruitfulness comes from me…..”

3. Jesus always did what pleased the Father. God the father himself said: “This is my beloved Son, I am well pleased with him” Do we always do what please God? Many a times we do in order to please people rather than God. We need to learn from Jesus. We need to please God first
